AMSTERDAM — International plant-based food manufacturer Flora Food Group BV, formerly known as the Upfield Group, acquired a Hugoton, Kansas, facility that closed earlier this year.
Flora said it will use the facility to manufacture its plant-based creams and cream cheese products. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The company also has a facility in New Century, Kansas, where it manufactures alternative butters and spreads products.
In the United States, Flora’s brands include Country Crock, Violife, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, and Flora Plant Butter.
“With the acquisition of this new facility, we are thrilled to have a unique opportunity to expand our creams business,” said Jim Breach, president of Flora Food Group’s North American business. “Building on the existing, state-of-the-art infrastructure and trained workforce residing in the local community, we look forward to bringing more folks into the Flora Food Group family, as well as continuing to produce our kitchen and pantry staple items here in America’s heartland and across our broader Americas region.”
