TILLAMOOK, ORE. — Tillamook County Creamery Association celebrated National Cheddar Day on Feb. 13 by inviting consumers to embark upon a sweepstakes voyage that will bring one grand prize winner access to more than 1,900 lbs of cheese.
Inspired by Tillamook’s founding dairy farmers, who formed the cooperative on Feb. 13, 1909, and built a boat they christened the Morning Star, the company paid tribute to its roots by launching the “Boatload of Cheese” sweepstakes, which will deliver 1,909 lbs of cheese (boat not included) to the randomly selected winner.
Tillamook executive vice president of marketing Kate Boltin said the farmer-owned cooperative continues to share the “same determination that inspired those aboard the historic Morning Star” more than a century ago.
“Since the ship's maiden voyage, we've continued to deliver an unwavering commitment to quality ingredients you can taste," Boltin said. "Generations of dairy fans have fueled our passion for delivering premium cheddar, and that's why we are going overboard this year by gifting a literal boatload of cheese."
The Oregon-based dairy manufacturer said the sweepstakes kicked off its omnichannel campaign, which was developed by communications agency Leo Chicago and focuses on Tillamook’s founding farmer-owners and the Morning Star.
Cheese-lovers may enter to win the “boatload” of Tillamook products through Feb. 20, by visiting the company’s website.
