AKRON, NY — The formulators at Perry’s Ice Cream used another dessert favorite as the inspiration for its newest flavors.
The ice cream manufacturer, in correlation with Pi Day on March 14, launched Cherry Pie and Lemon Meringue Pie varieties.
The company said the Cherry Pie flavor combines a cherry ice cream base with swirls of cherries and graham crackers. The Lemon Meringue Pie creation utilizes not only a “tangy lemon” ice cream, but also a “smooth meringue” ice cream, which are mixed with chunks of pie crust pieces.
“At Perry’s, we’re always looking for ways to innovate while staying true to the flavors our customers are seeking,” associate product manager Megan Mergler said. “These new flavors were inspired by the comfort and familiarity of homemade pies, and we’re excited to share these unique creations with our fans.”
Perry’s said the pie-themed flavors rolled out in 1.5-quart cartons at select retailers in New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. Plus, the products are available for purchase online via the company’s website.
