TILLAMOOK, ORE. — Ahead of summer, Tillamook County Creamery Association’s formulators created a pair of new sweet and savory ice cream flavors – Salty Caramel Pretzel and Apple Crisp – that will only be available for a limited time.
The farmer-owned cooperative shared that the Salty Caramel Pretzel flavor combines a salted vanilla ice cream base with “chocolatey covered” pretzel bits and salted caramel.
Tillamook senior R&D associate scientist Hunter Clayton said the company’s R&D team “spent hours testing the combination of salted caramel and chocolate covered pretzels in our extra creamy vanilla ice cream to make this decadent flavor that's perfect for summer.”
The Apple Crisp flavor, Tillamook said, adds baked oatmeal streusel and crisp apple pieces to vanilla ice cream. Clayton said to create the flavor, the R&D team used a recipe from his mother as a starting point.
“We all know the smell and unforgettable taste of a warm apple crisp, and what better way to tap into that nostalgia than a homemade recipe,” he said.
The dairy manufacturer also revealed it is adding two former limited-edition flavors – Orange & Cream, and Campfire Peanut Butter – to its regular lineup.
Tillamook shared data from Circana that identified the Oregon-based company as the fastest-growing family-sized ice cream brand in the United States across multi outlet retail channels this past year, ending March 23.
