CINCINNATI — Graeter’s Ice Cream tapped into a different type of craftsmanship for its latest flavor, infusing ice cream with bourbon provided by Kentucky-based New Riff Distilling.
The collaboration brought about Graeter’s Bourbon Ball Ice Cream, a creation Graeter’s described as an indulgent dessert that drew inspiration from the popular Kentucky confection.
The new product from Graeter’s features whiskey-glazed pecans and dark chocolate chips. The ice cream maker said scoops of Bourbon Ball deliver the flavors of a hand-selected single barrel from New Riff.
Graeter’s also revealed that it created Bourbon Ball to become a permanent part of its ice cream line and the new flavor replaced its Brown Butter Bourbon Pecan.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with New Riff Distilling to create a flavor that celebrates two iconic treats: Kentucky bourbon and ice cream,” Graeter’s president and chief executive officer Richard Graeter said. “Working with the team at New Riff to taste and select a special single barrel, our team has created the perfect fusion of our hand-crafted process and New Riff’s exceptional distilling, delivering a unique experience that honors the rich flavors of Kentucky.”
The ice cream maker said it incorporated New Riff bourbon into its small-batch French pot ice cream to make a “bold yet balanced” dessert.
New Riff president Mollie Lewis said the company, like Graeter’s, has a passion for craft and quality.
“Graeter’s has been an incredible partner – not only do they make amazing ice cream, but the way they incorporated our single barrel bourbon into this recipe blew us away,” Lewis said. “It’s the perfect blend of two great traditions, and we can’t wait for everyone to get a taste.”
Graeter’s Bourbon Ball Ice Cream launched in April at select grocery stores and is available to order online for nationwide shipping via the Graeter’s website.
