RICHMOND, VA. — Small batch frozen treat maker Nightingale Ice Cream Sandwiches widened its distribution reach in April, when its handcrafted desserts arrived in more Whole Foods Market locations on the East Coast.
The Virginia-based ice cream sandwich company said its creations are now sold in more than 4,500 retail locations – both independent and chain grocery stores – in the United States.
Flavors of Nightingale Ice Cream Sandwiches sold at Whole Foods stores include Banana Pudding, Cookie Monster, Chocolate Blackout, Strawberry Shortcake, Birthday Cake, Mocha Brownie, Key Lime Pie and Classic.
To make its ice cream sandwiches, the company shared that it uses 14% butterfat ice cream, freshly baked cookies, homemade inclusions and nut-free ingredients. Additionally, Nightingale highlighted that its products meet Whole Foods’ stringent ingredient standards that prohibit 300-plus ingredients, such as partially hydrogenated oils, artificial sweeteners and synthetic colors.
"From the beginning, our dream has been to bring high-quality, chef-driven ice cream sandwiches to more people, and Whole Foods Market has always been a key part of that vision," Nightingale Ice Cream Sandwiches president and chief executive officer Hannah Pollack said. "Expanding our presence with the nation's leading natural and organic foods retailer is an incredible honor and a testament to the quality and passion behind every sandwich we make."
Whole Foods first debuted Nightingale Ice Cream Sandwiches in its frozen sections in January 2025.
