SALT LAKE CITY — A company that began with horse-drawn wagons that delivered goods to its Utah customers in 1880, Winder Farms announced the return of its founding family.
Winder Farms shared that a group of investors led by managing partner James Winder acquired the milk brand. Terms were not disclosed.
Members of the new leadership said they plan to build on “the trust and tradition that have defined the brand,” once known as Winder Dairy, for 145 years.
The Winder family said reacquiring the company “ensures that one of Utah's most cherished brands will continue to grow while staying true to its roots of quality, service and community.”
James Winder said he and his family members were honored to bring the company back to its roots.
"This is more than a business to us — it's a legacy,” he said. “We are committed to safeguarding the Winder name while expanding our digital presence, distribution/retail channels and product line. In time, we would like to reintroduce some high-quality products that Winder previously produced and sold through its delivery routes, as well as new products that fit the appetite of today's marketplace and families. Whatever the future brings, the Winder family has always believed in delivering excellence, and that will remain our promise for generations to come."
As Winder Farms, the company plans to strengthen strategic partnerships with retailers and explore additional distribution opportunities. The family and its investors also shared they plan to roll out a new online platform to drive growth.
"Today's modern consumer wants access to products online and the option of delivery or pick-up at a specified time," James Winder said.
The company also said new products, including a new chocolate milk, are in the works.
