WOBURN, MASS. — Filtration solutions specialist ZwitterCo branched out into the dairy processing market, launching a new line of membranes that may be incorporated into whey processing.

ZwitterCo shared that its sanitary superfiltration spiral membrane elements feature the company’s second generation superfiltration technology and are FDA compliant to produce whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate.

The Massachusetts-based supplier develops organic anti-fouling membrane technology and said it has focused mostly on high strength water and wastewater treatment since ZwitterCo was established in 2018.

The company said its latest sanitary product line allows it to pursue customers who operate in dairy and food processing.

"ZwitterCo's anti-fouling membranes enable dairy processors to fully recover performance with a shorter, faster cleaning program that reduces chemicals, water and energy requirements and saves time and money," vice president for food processing and specialties Jon Goodman said. "ZwitterCo is developing anti-fouling membranes that are the next evolution of membrane technology for food and dairy processors."
