NEW YORK — The Pop-Tarts brand that originally took off with pastries created for the toaster just jumped all the way to the freezer. Kellanova introduced Pop-Tarts Ice Cream Sandwiches, its latest ice cream collaboration with Golden West Food Group.

Just like the companies’ recent joint effort involving Eggo and Rice Krispies Treats, the Pop-Tarts launch will include both ice cream sandwiches and pints.

Kellanova said the novelties inspired by Pop-Tarts squeeze ice cream flavors in between pastry-style ends. The new ice cream sandwiches offer three varieties: Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon, Frosted Strawberry and Frosted Chocolate Fudge.

The Pop-Tarts pints, meanwhile, blend ice cream with swirls of specific flavors and “pastry-style” pieces. The pints also come in Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon and Frosted Strawberry, as well as a Frosted S’mores flavor.

“We’re incredibly proud of our continued collaboration with Golden West Food Group,” Kellanova senior director of global licensing and cultural marketing David Lee said. “These new launches are a fun and flavorful celebration of our brands, and they bring the same joy and familiarity consumers love, in imaginative new forms. It’s always exciting to see how our brand DNA is brought to life through bold, unexpected innovation.”

Pop-Tarts Ice Cream Sandwiches launch this month at Walmart locations, with the brand’s ice cream pints set to debut later this summer at select retailers, Kellanova said.

Golden West Food Group president Josh Solovy said it was exciting to expand the company’s partnership with Kellanova.

“We’re always looking for ways to deliver products that surprise and delight, and these launches do just that,” Solovy said. “By harnessing the power of such well loved brands, we’re continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible in frozen treats.”

Kellanova noted that global brand licensing agency Beanstalk facilitated the collaboration.
