SYRACUSE, NY – The Northeast Dairy Foods and Suppliers Associations appointed Alex E. Walsh as executive director.

The organization said Walsh will oversee day-to-day operations and governmental, public and industry relations on behalf of its membership, which includes dairy processors, manufacturers, distributors and suppliers in the northeast United States

“Alex will bring a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to the position,” said Daniel Lausch, president of the Northeast Dairy Foods Association’s board of directors. “We look forward to his leadership and continuing the outstanding work the association does on behalf of dairy processor and manufacturer members.”

Added Melissa Fryer, president of the Northeast Dairy Suppliers Association’s board of directors: “We are excited to have Alex rejoin the associations and bring fresh energy with his diverse background to enhance the supplier membership. His leadership will be an asset to the growth and betterment of the associations and dairy industry in the northeast.”

Walsh most recently worked in the private sector, as a manager of communications, marketing and government relations. In 2018, he joined Northeast Dairy Foods and Suppliers Associations for the first time as its director of communications and membership. He was vice president of regulatory affairs for the organization from 2020 to 2021. Earlier in his career, Walsh served as a legislative aide to NY state Sen. John A. DeFrancisco and as a public information officer for Onondaga County, NY.

He became the fifth executive director in the 95-year history of the full-service dairy trade organization.
