MADISON, WIS. – Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association members throughout the country soon will have a new resource available to them, as the WCMA implements its new Health & Safety Group.

The association shared that the Health & Safety Group will get started with an Aug. 3 meeting, which will cover the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Local Emphasis Programs, focusing on safety practices for food manufacturers.

“Employee safety is paramount to productive dairy processing operations,” said Rebekah Sweeney, WCMA’s senior director of program and policy. “The new WCMA Health & Safety Group brings together industry experts and regulators to share their knowledge of standards, strategies and resources to maintain and improve safe work environments.”

Per the WCMA, future meetings will cover a variety of worker safety subjects in the field of dairy processing and will be guided by member feedback. The plan is to provide a platform for discussion, along with industry experts sharing their knowledge.

The first meeting can be attended in person, in Sun Prairie, Wis., or online with Zoom. Registration is available online at WCMA's website. Professionals interested in the WCMA Health & Safety Group also can contact Sweeney at rsweeney@wischeesemakers.org.
