SUNNYVALE, CALIF. – Thor's Skyr and autonomous robotic food service solutions supplier Blendid revealed their plans to open robotic smoothie kiosks later this year.
Unnar Beck Danielsson, chief executive officer and co-founder of Thor's Skyr, said the company’s first robotic kiosks will serve skyr smoothies made with Thor’s new lactose-free formula.
"As we continue to introduce consumers to the innovative, protein-packed benefits of Thor's Skyr, Blendid's robotic kiosks will help us scale faster and expand the reach of our product line,” the CEO said. "We're thrilled to give skyr-lovers more ways to enjoy our refreshing and nutritious products on the go."
Currently sold in more than 1,600 retail locations, Thor’s Skyr products are available in a plain flavor that contains 21 grams of protein per 6-oz cup, as well as flavored cups that have 18 grams of protein.
Blendid produces a contactless food automation platform called foodOS, which uses patented machine learning, robotics and artificial intelligence. The companies said the upcoming on-demand, customizable smoothies may be accessible 24 hours a day, as location traffic demands.
Vipin Jain, CEO and co-founder of Blendid, said AI-powered robotic solutions help the food service industry evolve.
“Consumers want quick, fresh and nutritious food options at all hours, but that puts tremendous pressure on food industry operators to try to manage staffing, supply and operational requirements," Jain said. "As we continue to drive the health-conscious reinvention of fast food, our robotic smoothie kiosks are helping food innovators like the Thor's Skyr team deliver the fast, customizable and nutritious on-the-go food choices that consumers crave."
