SOUDERTON, PA. — SideDrive Conveyor Co. was recognized Nov. 2 at PROCESS EXPO in Chicago for the company’s innovative sanitary spiral conveyor. As part of the expo’s Innovation Showcase Award, SideDrive won the award in the Bakery, Grains, Nuts, Seeds and Snacks sector.
A panel of judges selected one winner from each industry sector and announced the winners during the official Press Conference on the opening day of the show.
“We are extremely honored to win this award,” said Tony Maniscalco, business unit leader for SideDrive. “While we live and breathe this technology every day, we are thankful to the panel who felt our hygienic spiral was the best innovation in our category. The interest in our technology has been growing and we’re glad to display it here at Process Expo for all to see.”
The spiral conveyors are modular, easy to clean and designed for several food and non-food product applications, including raw materials, unfinished “naked” goods and packaged foods. The system uses side drive, edge-driven technology by Intralox.
The conveyors can be configured in curved, spiral, winding or straight orientations and set for inclines as well as declines, all without the need to transfer to another conveyor. The supporting frame is stainless steel to promote hygiene, and a sloped surface on the conveyor prevents contamination via water buildup.
The system also features modular belting, rods and sprockets capable of withstanding high-pressure washdown, and minimal bolted connections to eliminate bacteria harborage points. The open, drum-less spiral design enhances the sanitation process, as well.PROCESS EXPO, one of the largest tradeshows dedicated to the food and beverage processing industry, features a vast hall of exhibitors showcasing the latest in machines, products, technology and services from all food and beverage processing and packaging industry segments, including bakery, beverage, cheese and dairy, meat, poultry and seafood, pet food, prepared food, cannabis edibles, and confectionery.
