COLUMBUS, OHIO — Post Holdings, Inc. plans to build a new 215,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in West Jefferson, Ohio, that will produce protein drinks for BellRing Brands, Inc., a spinoff from Post Holdings that owns the Premier Protein brand. The project is expected to cost $86 million and create 200 jobs over four years.

Michael Foods Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of St. Louis-based Post Holdings, will manage the manufacturing facility. Post’s investment will go toward construction, machinery and equipment.

“We are excited to begin construction on our West Jefferson property,” said Steve Schonhoff, senior vice president of integrated supply chain for Michael Foods. “The JobsOhio team and the developer Fed One Dublin, LLC have been great to work with throughout the development process. The location is a terrific addition to our supply chain.”

Premier Protein ready-to-drink shake net sales increased more than 18% in the fourth quarter ended Sept. 30 while volumes were up nearly 14%, according to BellRing Brands, which reported fiscal year net sales of $1.25 billion. BellRing and Post have entered into an agreement in which Post will purchase and develop land with the intent to build an aseptic processing facility to produce RTD shakes for BellRing.
