MADISON, WIS. – The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association is accepting throughout the month of August nominations for its 2023 dairy processing industry leadership awards.

Nominees can be submitted online at the WCMA website for the association’s Cheese Industry Champion, Distinguished Service, Luminary, Vanguard and Babcock awards.

Chief executive officers, directors, presidents and vice presidents are the types of candidates the WCMA is seeking for its Cheese Industry Champion Award, which honors leaders who drive industry growth.

The Distinguished Service Award was established to recognize suppliers who play critical roles in building up the dairy industry through innovations in dairy manufacturing.

The Luminary Award goes to industry leaders who specialize in dairy product sales and marketing, shining a spotlight on professionals who innovate and introduce new concepts and/or products.

The best cheesemakers and cheese manufacturing employees in the industry are recognized through the Vanguard Award, which salutes groundbreakers and innovators.

The Babcock Award, meanwhile, celebrates educators who work with cheesemakers to improve the dairy industry.

“WCMA is proud to honor people who have built the dairy industry with inspirational careers,” said John Umhoefer, WCMA’s executive director. “Your nominations make these awards possible and your ideas for new recognition awards have made the April award ceremony an extraordinary event.”

The deadline for making nominations at the WCMA’s website is the close of business on Aug. 31. The winners will be presented with their awards during CheeseCon, scheduled for April 5-6, 2023, in Madison, Wis.
