BROOKLYN, NY – Van Leeuwen introduced several new ice cream flavors, including a cold meets hot collaboration with Tapatío Hot Sauce.

The ice cream maker teamed up with Tapatío to make Mexican Hot Chocolate, one of seven flavors in its next rotation, which is being sold at 3,5000 Walmart locations in the US.

The chocolate ice cream features marshmallows, fudge swirls and Tapatío Hot Sauce.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Van Leeuwen on their refreshing take on the classic Mexican Hot Chocolate flavor,” said Luis Saavedra, chief executive officer for Tapatío. “We love how Van Leeuwen is spicing up the ice cream game, and it feels like a match made in dairy heaven.”

The other pints rolling out for the fall are: Sweet Potato Marshmallow Casserole, Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll, Wildberry Layer Cake, Strawberry, Hazelnut Fudge Cookie and Honeycomb.

All seven limited time flavors, which became available the first week of September, are being sold in Walmart stores in all 50 states until mid-November.

“Heading into the season known for all things pumpkin, we are excited to offer Walmart shoppers a variety of fall-themed flavors that will quite literally spice up their ice cream selection at home,” said Ben Van Leeuwen, co-founder and chief executive officer of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. “Walmart has been a great partner and we are happy that Van Leeuwen’s flavors, especially our collaboration with Tapatío Hot Sauce, will be up for grabs when Walmart shoppers are stocking up for their upcoming festivities with friends and family.”

The CEO said partnering with Walmart has allowed the New York-based company, founded as a scoop truck operation in 2008, to create collections of innovative flavors. Van Leeuwen noted some of the latest ingredients that the company are excited about include hazelnuts from Italy and “heat” from popular hot sauce brand Tapatío.

“At Van Leeuwen, we take the time to cultivate thoughtful formulations that are sometimes unexpected, but always good, and we are so excited for shoppers to get their hands on our latest collection,” he said.
