MINNEAPOLIS — General Mills, Inc. brand Yoplait developed a new line of high-protein, low-sugar yogurt snacks.

Formulated using ultra-filtered milk and the company’s traditional yogurt-style fermentation process, Yoplait Protein marks the brand’s highest protein and lowest sugar product to date, the company shared.

The product offers 15 grams of protein, 3 grams of sugar and 100 calories per 5.6-oz serving and is aimed at consumers seeking convenient protein additions to their existing diet. Varieties include single-serve and 30-oz tub containers. Flavors include vanilla, cherry, peach, mixed berry, strawberry, strawberry banana, strawberry cheesecake and Key lime pie.

“Consumers are having to make tradeoffs, opting for products they don’t enjoy the taste of — like Greek yogurt — just to get in the extra protein, so we decided to do something about the lack of options in the category,” said Kaylee Pohlmeyer, senior brand manager at General Mills. “Yoplait Protein gives consumers a dairy option with remarkable macros, but with the texture of our Original Yoplait.”

Yoplait Protein will be available beginning this month at retailers nationwide. The dairy snack comes as part of General Mills’ strategy to increase product innovation pressure in the first fiscal quarter of 2024.
