ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ – Champignon North America, the exclusive importer of specialty cheeses produced by Käserei Champignon in Germany, announced the US launch of its Rougette Bonfire Marinated Grilling Cheese.
A ready-to-cook take on baked feta, the semi soft cheese with herbs is made with 100% cow’s milk from Germany and comes pre-marinated in an aluminum tray.
The cheese, which can be cooked in an oven or broiler or on the grill, was developed as an alternative to traditional feta in oven-baked recipes. Champignon suggests threading the finished product onto skewers, dicing it for salads and pastas or serving it as a hot, melted dip.
"When we saw the popularity of the viral baked feta pasta trend, we knew we had a winner," said Flynne Wiley, chief executive officer of Champignon North America and importer of Rougette Bonfire. "As the only warm, feta-style specialty cheese on the market, this fun and versatile option takes popular traybake recipes to the next level with an easier and more convenient way to cook at home or entertain a crowd, especially heading into summer."
Cheeses from Rougette Bonfire are lactose-free, gluten-free and considered vegetarian due to the use of microbial rennet.
The marinated grilling cheese won “Fantastic Flavor” at the 2021 Great Taste Awards in the UK, and it received the "Best New Product" in 2020 from the Specialty Food Association Awards.
Now available nationwide, Rougette Bonfire Marinated Grilling Cheese comes in a 6.4 oz. package with a suggested retail price of $7.99. It is available at Safeway, Costco, Hy-Vee, Albertsons and ALDI stores, to name a few.
