BURLINGTON, VT. – To pick the company’s first new product of 2024, Ben & Jerry’s decided to bring a fan favorite flavor to its new alternative dairy recipe.

The ice cream maker introduced Strawberry Cheezecake, revealing that people who got a sneak taste of the product months ahead of its launch identified it a favorite in Ben & Jerry’s oat base format. Plus, the company said its traditional Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream was its fastest growing, top-selling ice cream flavor in 2023.

The new flavor consists of a strawberry alternative cheesecake – or “cheezecake” – base, as well as a graham cracker swirl within Ben & Jerry’s recently revamped oat-based formula for its non-dairy desserts.

"We have wanted to feature this one for a while, but this is a case of good things are worth waiting for,” said Colleen Rossell, a flavor guru at Ben & Jerry’s. “The new oat base really showcases the ingredients and lets the strawberry 'cheezecake' shine through. It is so creamy that people are surprised every time that it's vegan.”

Ben & Jerry’s debuted alternative dairy options in 2016. The company said its new oat base recipe already is being used in non-dairy versions of its Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavors.
